JOYCE PARKER

Joyce Parker was born and raised in Arkansas and moved to the Mountain Home area in 1972.  Joyce attended public school and graduated high school in Mountain Home.  Joyce was a single mom to 3 children; all of whom graduated from the Mountain Home public school system.  After years of working in the community, Joyce enrolled in college classes receiving an Associates Degree at Arkansas State University in Mountain Home, Bachelor’s of Science and Specialist’s Degree in Education, Psychology and Counseling, Mental Health Counseling at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

 

Joyce is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has been working in the mental health field since 2009 providing services for the elderly with dementia, depression, anxiety; children of all ages with behavioral issues as well as abuse, depression, anxiety, grief/loss; and adults struggling with PTSD, grief/loss, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, mood disorders, poor self-esteem / self-worth, domestic violence, past/current sexual abuse and relationship issues.  

 

Joyce provides multiple counseling venues including individual therapy, family and couple therapy as well as symptom management with the focus of treatment including grief/loss, PTSD, depression, anxiety, panic disorders, mood disorders, behavioral issues, past/current (physical, mental, emotional, sexual) abuse, self-esteem issues, domestic violence and relationship issues.

 “Today, the societal stigma of mental health issues remains which prevent those who struggle from seeking services to manage and/or eliminate symptoms.  My goal is to empower the individual with skills necessary to overcome those obstacles in life that can paralyze with fear, uncertainty and hopelessness as well as cope with life changes/transitions and improve the individual’s quality of life.”
